FYI,
I received this from JacketFlap CEO, Tracy Grand. JacketFlap.com describes itself as “the world’s most comprehensive children’s book resource and social networking web site for people in the children’s book industry.” Here’s the email from Tracy:
Hi M. LaVora,
As you may be aware, Children’s Book Week is approaching. One hallmark of the new Children’s Book Week is the culmination of a national child-selected book awards program. 10,000 children in five teams from around the US have spent months reading and evaluating books submitted by publishers. Today, the five favorite books published in 2007 were announced in five categories – three grade categories: K-2, 3-4, 5-6 as well as Favorite Author, and Favorite Illustrator. A nation-wide vote begins today. Kids across the country can vote electronically online or in their school, library, or bookstore via paper ballot. The winner in each category will be named at a gala during Children’s Book Week 2008 in New York City. You can see a list of the 25 finalists as well as information on voting at the following URL:

In cooperation with the Children’s Book Council, JacketFlap has created a Children’s Choice Book Awards Widget that you can add to your blog. The Widget displays a different finalist book every time it loads on your web site, and there are links where your site visitors can click to vote for the Children’s Choice Book Awards. You can get and customize the Widget for your blog at the following URL:

Enjoy!
